The
"Church" is the society, the fellowship, the community
of all those who draw together in love through their faith in
Christ. The history is the record of events that happened in the
past, thus being the roots from which the Mount Moriah Baptist
Church sprouted in the year 1881.
The first services were held from house to house, and as the Lord
blessed His children, a "brush-harbor" was built of
the pine trees that surrounded them. By the grace of God, the
members continued to strive to raise money to build a new sanctuary.
With Christ as the Chief Cornerstone, the building was completed.
Upon completion, the name "Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist
Church" was suggested and all agreed. Over the years, the
church building has been rebuilt three times, and the congregation
has relocated once.
From our first shepherd, Pastor Mason Harrison, to our recent
pastor, Michael D. Woods, each has made great efforts to lead
us according to the Word of God.
By placing our trust in Christ, and with the thought "Follow
me as I follow Christ," from the year 1881 to the present
time, many faithful members and friends have worked and served
here. The Mt. Moriah Baptist Church family has grown, and we are
looking forward to a brighter and more productive future.
On June 9th of 1996, after 115 years at our original location,
we celebrated our move to our current church home at 1983 Brockett
Road in Tucker, Georgia.
With continuous prayer, faith in God's Word, obedience and continuous
teaching by the pastor, associate ministers and our other ministry
leaders, this church will continue to grow and be productive in
the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
